The inaugural issue of Nu PlayStation magazine from September 1999. A new PlayStation specific magazine from LCD Publishing. The reasons for this magazine entering into the market so late into the original PlayStations-lifespan are unknown and with the publisher launching a very similar PlayStation-specific magazine around the time (PlayStation Magic) in an already oversaturated market it's a surprise that it continued for almost half-a-year but it did.
This issue leads off with coverage of Gran Turismo 2 and an arcade review of Tekken Tag Tournament, no doubt trying to build hype (and a future for the magazine) around the launch of the PlayStation 2. Sadly Nu PlayStation didn't last long enough to see that launch. This issue also has a preview feature on Road Rash Unchained which would go on to be renamed Road Rash: Jailbreak.
Reviews note: Issue 2 of Nu PlayStation clarified that two games receieved incorrect scores in the reviews section of this magazine. Syphon Filter was supposed to get 90% rather than 80% and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver was supposed to get 88% rather than 80%.
